However, the belief in the existence of a connection between consecutive verses in some surahs, such as the verse of completion in the middle of the third verse of Surah Al-Ma’idah, faces some challenges. Because, in this verse, the discussion of the Prophet’s (PBUH) will be placed in the middle of the discussion of halal and haram foods. This verse has long been discussed in terms of the existence or absence of a connection between the issue of the Prophet’s succession and the issue of halal and haram foods, and even the issue of the connection between the various parts of the verse has influenced its understanding. Looking at the type of connection in the aforementioned verse, we can ask what topic or topics the issue of halal and haram foods is connected to in other surahs of the Quran, and what topics have been replaced by the verse of completion in other surahs. For this study, a multi-stage method has been proposed. In this method, considering the "confluence of topics" in the Quran, it becomes clear that the issue of halal and haram foods throughout the Quran is always linked to the issue of obedience and submission, and therefore, the link at the beginning of Surah Al-Ma'idah is اکثر قریب به اتفاق محققان مسلمانان بر آنند که ترتیب آیات در سوره‌های قرآن توقیفی است و از این رهگذر عموماً به لزوم وجود پیوندی حکیمانه بین آیات در توالی موجود آنها در سوره‌ها باور دارند. ولی باور به وجود پیوند بین آیات متوالی در برخی سوره‌ها، از جمله آیه اکمال در میانه آیه سوم سوره مائده، با چالشهایی مواجه است. زیرا، در این آیه بحث وصایت پیامبر اکرم (ص) در میان سخن از خوراکی‌های حلال و حرام قرار گرفته است. این آیه از دیرباز به لحاظ وجود و یا عدم وجود پیوند بین مسئله جانشینی پیامبر و مسئله خوراکی‌های حلال و حرام مورد بحث قرار گرفته و حتی مسئله پیوند بین بخشهای گوناگون آیه در فهم آن اثر نهاده است. در نگاهی دیگر به نوع پیوند آیه مذکور، می‌توان این سوال را مطرح کرد که مسئله خوراکی‌های حلال و حرام در دیگر سوره‌های قرآن با چه موضوع یا موضوعاتی در پیوند است و در سوره‌های دیگر، چه موضوعاتی جانشینی آیه اکمال شده‌اند. برای این بررسی، روشی چند مرحله‌ای پیشنهاد شده است. در این روش با توجه به «باهم‌آیی موضوعات» در قرآن، روشن می‌شود مسئله خوراکی‌های حلال و حرام در سراسر قرآن همواره با مسئله تبعیت و اطاعت در پیوند بوده و از این رو، پیوند موجود در ابتدای سوره مائده، پیوندی غریب و ناآشنا نیست و لازم است موضوع آیه اکمال، موضوعی در پیوند با مسئله تبعیت و اطاعت باشد و تفسیر این آیه به موضوعی جز امامت، سبب برهم خوردن نظم ثابت در باهم‌آیی موضوعات قرآن خواهد شد.
