Abstract

The vast majority of Muslim scholars believe that the order of verses in the surahs of the Quran is fixed, and therefore they generally believe in the necessity of a wise connection between the verses in their sequence in the surahs. However, the belief in the existence of a connection between consecutive verses in some surahs, such as the verse of completion in the middle of the third verse of Surah Al-Ma’idah, faces some challenges. Because, in this verse, the discussion of the Prophet’s (PBUH) will be placed in the middle of the discussion of halal and haram foods. This verse has long been discussed in terms of the existence or absence of a connection between the issue of the Prophet’s succession and the issue of halal and haram foods, and even the issue of the connection between the various parts of the verse has influenced its understanding. Looking at the type of connection in the aforementioned verse, we can ask what topic or topics the issue of halal and haram foods is connected to in other surahs of the Quran, and what topics have been replaced by the verse of completion in other surahs. For this study, a multi-stage method has been proposed. In this method, considering the "confluence of topics" in the Quran, it becomes clear that the issue of halal and haram foods throughout the Quran is always linked to the issue of obedience and submission, and therefore, the link at the beginning of Surah Al-Ma'idah is
